Prepare for your Appointment

Please read carefully to find out how to make your House-Call grooming experience go smoothly!

Grooming Location

Keep these things in mind when choosing a grooming area in your home.

Lots of light!

  • Natural or artificial works.

Is the area carpeted?

  • Please provide a vacuum or opt for non-carpeted area.

Will there be heavy foot traffic?

  • Interruptions and distractions can lead to pet injury.

Does this area have loud noises?

  • Loud noises cause your pet to become stressed and agitated. (Please don't do laundry if in laundry room!)

Deciding between tub or sink?

  • Sinks are much easier and faster for small dogs. Tubs are great for big dogs.

High Priority To Do's

  • Please clear your tub or sink of any loose items such as dishes, dish racks, food, childrens toys, hair, etc. Especially items you do not want damaged/broken.

  • Please do not schedule services such as cleaning or construction work during your appointment. Services that require foot traffic and noise.

  • I know it’s tempting but please limit surprise check ins on your pet. If absolutely necessary, calling or texting the groomer first will prevent startling and possible injury.

Only Have Common Areas Available?

  • Please avoid going in that area while the groom is in progress.

  • Anytime your pet sees or hears you, they get distracted and make quick and sudden movements. This can be very dangerous when using sharp tools and heavy equipment. Making the groom more stressful for both pet and groomer, therefore taking longer to complete.

  • Even doing things like making lunch, taking work calls, watching tv, etc.

  • If these things can be avoided, (quieter area or utilizing latch key) please schedule your appointment accordingly. If not, House-call grooming may not be for you.

Right Before Your Appointment

  • Please give your dog an opportunity to use the bathroom beforehand.

  • If your pet has a tendency to run and hide, (especially cats) please confine them to a room or crate them before your groomer arrives.

  • If you'd like to bathe your pet yourself, please do not bathe them if they are matted. Consult your groomer prior to bathing before appointment.

  • If you have any specifications having to do with grooming style please provide them at the start of your appointment. If no instructions are given, the groomer will do the same cut as the previous appointment.

Lainey's Grooming offers latch key services if you prefer to schedule when no one's home. â€‹

  • Simply provide door code(font, back, garage, etc.), hidden key location, lock box, etc. prior to appointment.

  • Because of the amount of clients that take advantage of latch key services, Lainey’s Grooming cannot be responsible for holding on to keys to your home. Door codes, hidden keys and lock boxes only. For fingerprint key access, please contact prior to appointment.

I’d Like to Go Above and Beyond..

  • Towels are provided but having extra is always better! If you have old towels you’d like to provide, it’d be much appreciated.

  • Leaving out a vacuum cleaner will make clean-up much faster and will get a better job done!

  • Please set up your next appointment! Appointment slots are getting more and more limited, scheduling ahead limits any potential issues such as no availability which will then lead to your pet becoming matted. You can always reschedule your appointment, up to 24 hours before!

I want to thank all of my clients who are already very accommodating and I so appreciate your business!   — Lainey
