FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a Grooming Van or Trailer?

No, House-call is the only grooming service provided. I plan on purchasing a trailer within the next year offering both mobile and house-call services.

What is House-Call Grooming?

House-Call Grooming is full grooming services done within your home. I travel to you, bring all supplies needed to complete the groom including grooming table and tools. Use of your sink, tub or shower is required for bathing. If you wish to bathe your pet yourself, please consult the groomer prior to the groom.

Where do you groom my pet?

A small area, 4-6 square feet(depending on the size of your pet) is needed for my grooming table, tools, and movability. This can be in any area of your home you are comfortable with getting a little hairy. Recommended areas include non-carpeted, well ventilated and well lit rooms. It's most important the area be quiet and does not have a lot of foot traffic. Outside grooms can be requested but because of unpredictable weather, grooming indoors must be an option.

Where do you bathe pets?

Areas to bathe your pet include any shower/bath, medium to large sink depending on the size of your pet. Things I may bring to make bathing your pet more safe and efficient include a suction tether, sink hose attachment, shower hose attachment, drain hair cover, rubber tub/sink mat. If grooming outdoors is requested, a portable bathing tub can be brought. (Use of gardening hose is required for this option.)

Will I have to clean up a big mess?

No. I clean during and after the groom to the best of my ability. However, because I am there to groom your pet and do not have extra time to do a thorough cleaning, there may be a strand of hair or two. Things you can do to minimize this would be, leaving out a vacuum for me to use or if you have a cleaning service, scheduling them the day after the groom.

How do you know your exact arrival time?

Appointment times are scheduled accordingly to ensure you and your pet aren't rushed or cut short. If an appointment does end up running a bit long or unexpected traffic or events occur, you will be contacted and given a time frame arrival of up to 1 hour. If I'm going to be more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, you will be contacted.

Do I need to have my cat in a carrier prior to appointment?

Yes. Either a crate/carrier or a small room like a bathroom without areas they can hide behind. If you foresee problems it may be necessary to confine them to a room the night before to eliminate complications.

Can I stay with my pet for the groom?

Yes and No, I'll explain. It depends on your pet and the situation. Most pets get very distracted and difficult to handle making the groom more dangerous and take longer (which will add to the cost). This will happen especially if the owner is moving around and constantly walking by the grooming area making noises. If you would like to help with the groom by comforting your pet and/or restraining them, you are more than welcome. However, please be aware I use very sharp tools and you may get injured.

How long will it take?

Each pet is an individual and has individual needs, typically you can expect a full groom appointment to take between 1 - 4 hours. Please keep in mind the first grooming will take longer because it's important to develop a relationship with your pet, as well as getting to know your house and the new environment. Matting and difficulties with grooming will also increase time.

What form of payments do you accept?

Cash, Check, Venmo, Zelle, and Credit/Debit are all available forms of payment.

What happens if I cancel my appointment?

Last minute cancellations of appointments are costly and the potential earnings lost cannot be recovered. Therefore, at least 24 hours notice is required. Failure to give adequate notice will result in a charge of half the cost of the service total. First offense is waived.

Can I contact you by phone?

Yes! Please do, I will respond to text messages the fastest and phone calls by the end of the day. Please leave a voicemail message if you would like to receive a call back. In the unfortunate event I miss your call and do not contact you I apologize sincerely. Please attempt to call back and/or send a text message and I will be sure to get back to you.

What products do you use?

I use all natural, dye and paraben free shampoos/conditioners. I use specific shampoos based on your pets breed and skin type, but if you would like me to use a sensitive skin or hypoallergenic shampoo, or even if you have your own shampoo you'd prefer me to use, please request prior to groom. If you'd like to know what products and equipment I use, you can view through the following link, Products & Tools.

Can you groom my puppy or anxious pet?

Grooming can be a lot for pets and can be traumatizing if rushed or thrown into the process, this can lead to further anxiety and aggression which may later on require medication and $$$. Please consider scheduling smaller services prior to a full groom, to ease your pet into the grooming process. You can also enroll in the Puppy Program. This program or series of groom appointments is for pets of all ages. To introduce or reintroduce pets to the grooming process. To learn more please visit the following link, The Puppy Program.

Can you shave my pet?

"Shaving" is to cut an animals hair very close to the skin. This is dangerous for most animals for a number of reasons, but especially for double coated pets. Shaving is only done for severely matted pets where it is the only option. Cats and dogs are meant to have hair on their body, to protect them from dirt, bacteria and harmful UV rays. While humans have skin as their first line of defense, pets have hair. Double coated pets are especially harmful to shave because their hair is designed to regulate their body temperature and shaving even once may permanently damage the hair which disrupts that ability and can cause severe matting, heat stroke, and other dangers. Shaving cats can also be harmful to them but since most cats are kept indoors they are less likely to be exposed to the same dangers. I do not shave outdoor cats.
