The Puppy Program

This program is to help your pet transition into grooming. When your pet is thrown into grooming it can cause severe anxiety or aggression making the groom dangerous for the pet and the groomer. If your pet is just starting their grooming journey or if they haven't been well equipped for grooming in the past, doing this program will be incredibly beneficial. There is homework involved, but if you are committed to helping your pet and can put in the time, it will pay off in the end. 

The program consists of four bi-weekly grooming sessions until your pet is comfortable with the grooming process. Visits must be scheduled within an eight week period. This is very important in order to establish trust between pet and groomer and get pets used to the experience. All pets are different. With each grooming session I'll introduce your pet a little more into the grooming process. If they begin to get overly agitated I stop the groom and will continue in the next session. With this process they may not get fully groomed, unfortunately they may not end up looking cute. Pushing them past a certain point will have negative impacts for future grooming, which is why this is especially important for puppies and kittens. Below is a list of exercises you should also be doing at home as much as you can during this process to prepare them for grooming.

Daily Home Exercises

+ Use an electric toothbrush on or near them - 5 mins

+ Brush and Comb them - 2 mins 

​

+ Use a hairdryer on or near them - 5 mins 

+ Place your pet on a high surface, like a countertop or washing machine. Do this while brushing or combing. Keep one hand on them at all times for safety.

All exercises should spend special care focusing on face, nose bridge, around and under ears, feet and in between toes, and rear end areas.
